GUIDELINES FOR ALL COMPETITIONS

 

OPEN AND ASSIGNED SUBJECTS


3 NATURE IMAGES ARE PERMITTED TO BE ENTERED INTO THE OPEN COMPETITION

AND

3 NATURE IMAGES ARE PERMITTED TO BE ENTERED INTO THE ASSIGNED SUBJECT COMPETITION


A nature image is one that includes any branch of natural history.

Including but not limited to zoological, botanical, geological, astronomical.

Examples: mammals, birds, reptiles, trees, flowers, mushrooms, fungi,

landscapes, rock formations, eclipses, the moon, planets, sunrises, sunsets, weather events.

Photographs made in Zoos, are permitted so long as there are no man made objects visible.

Scientific tags, collars, and bands are allowed.

Post processing software editing or alteration of images is only permitted as long as they are not obvious.

Images converted to Black and White are permitted , however no toning of the images is allowed.

The image must be shades of black, white and grey only.


NOT PERMITTED IN COMPETITIONS

 

Objects created by humans, and evidence of human activity, are not allowed.

For example; no roses tulips irises dogs cats, horses.

Post processing replacement skies or textures, or cutting and pasting from another image is not allowed

Images created by image creation software (frequently called ‘AI’ images) are not allowed in open or

an assigned subject competition unless specified .

Open category

Any nature image that conforms with the definition of a nature image above.

Assigned subject

The subject that is assigned must be the majority of the image

Botany

Images must be members in the plant kingdom.

Plants, trees, fungi, flowers,etc. are allowed.

Close ups are also allowed.

Insects that are on a plant or flowers are also allowed as long as the insect is not the majority of the image.

Human-created hybrid plants are not allowed.

For example; no roses, tulips irises, unless they are native.

Zoology

Images must be members of the animal kingdom.

Mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects.

Black and White

Images converted to Black and White are permitted, however no toning of the images is allowed.

The image must be shades of black, white and gray only.

 

Macro/Closeup

Images should be up close, showcasing small subjects larger than life or a part of an animal or plant.

For example a close up an elephants' eye.

 

Creative

The Creative Assigned Subject is open to member's nature image that has been computer manipulated.

The image can not have other objects added by the computer.
